Description
Cluster satellite construction. Overhead view of one of the four Cluster satellites during construction, showing the central fuel tank. The Cluster satellites were launched by the European Space Agency (ESA) in 2000 to study the Earth's magnetosphere (magnetic field). The initial Cluster satellites were lost when the launch rocket failed in 1996. This is one of the second set of Cluster satellites. Photographed at the Dornier Daimler Chrysler site (today part of EADS) at Freidrichshafen, Germany.
