Brain CT scanning. Computed tomography (CT) scans of a patient's brain, as displayed on a screen for assessment and diagnosis by a radiographer. These scans include sagittal, coronal and axial scans. CT scanning uses X-rays to obtain 2D and 3D images through body tissues. Unlike ordinary X-ray imaging, CT scanning can be used to image soft tissues such as those in the brain.
