Artist's Description
Conceptual artwork representing a near-death experience. This represents the phenomenon where a person who has been pronounced clinically dead, or who is very close to death, returns to full consciousness and reports his or her experiences. These phenomena include detachment from the body, a sense of levitation, extreme serenity and the experience of absolute dissolution. The image is superimposed with a heartbeat trace recorded from left to right over time, showing a normal heartbeat (left), a cessation (flat line), and finally the resumption of electrical activity in the heart (right).
