Artist's Description
Factories. Engraving of an aerial view of textile factories during the 19th century Industrial Revolution. The Industrial Revolution began in Britain during the late 18th century, spread to Europe and the USA during the 19th century and the rest of the World during the 20th century. In each case, the Revolution has been marked by a shift from small-scale to large-scale production. This has usually been accompanied by a population movement from the countryside to the towns.
