Description
Absorption spectrum of zircon. An absorption spectrum for a mineral shows where certain wavelengths across the spectrum (colours) are absorbed (dark lines) by the mineral. Each mineral produces its own characteristic set of absorption lines. Zircon (zirconium silicate) has been used as a gemstone, and has sometimes been used as a substitute for diamond.
