Gecko. X-ray of a species of gecko lizard (family: Gekkonidae). Bones of the skeleton are clearly visible including bones in the skull, spinal column, ribs, and limbs. The surface of the body is covered in scales. Gecko's, typically seen running along walls and ceilings, have toes which are adapted for climbing. On the tips of each toe are pads (seen here as swellings) composed of lamellate cushions with microscopic hooks. This enables geckos to traverse even vertical panes of glass. They are active in the twilight and at night, when they hunt for insects.
