Description
Wright brothers and sister. US aviation pioneer Orville Wright (left, 1871-1948), his sister Katharine Wright and his brother Wilbur Wright (right, 1867-1912), circa 1909. The Wright brothers produced a series of aircraft, starting with the first successful flight in a heaver-than-air machine (1903). Their first public demonstration flights took place in 1908 in France and the USA. Orville was seriously injured in a crash that year, and Katharine nursed him back to health and joined the brothers in their efforts. She was more outgoing than the brothers, who were said to be shy in public. All three became famous. Photograph from the Bain News Service.
