Artist's Description

Woolly rhinoceros (Coelodonta antiquitatis), illustration. This extinct prehistoric mammal existed from the Late Pliocene to the Late Pleistocene (3.6 million years ago to 10,000 years ago). It lived on the northern steppes of Eurasia, and was well adapted to harsh cold conditions with thick, shaggy fur, small ears, short legs and a massive body to conserve heat. It grew up to 2 metres tall at the shoulder and 3.5 metres long. It also had two horns, with its longer front horn reaching up to 1 metre in length.
