Description
Woolly rhinoceros fossil, illustration. This extinct prehistoric mammal existed from the Late Pliocene to the Late Pleistocene (3.6 million years ago to 10,000 years ago). This mummified specimen of the prehistoric woolly rhinoceros (Coelodonta antiquitatis) was found in a tar pit in Starunia, Poland. It is an adult female. The original is on display in the Polish Academy of Sciences' Museum of Natural History in Krakow, Poland.
