Description
Wilbur Wright and photographer. US aviation pioneer Wilbur Wright (left, 1867-1912) in Pau, France, in 1909 with a photographer. The Wright brothers (Wilbur and Orville) produced a series of aircraft, starting with the first successful flight in a heaver-than-air machine (1903). Their first public demonstration flights took place in 1908 in France and the USA. They became famous and carried out many more demonstration flights from 1909 in Pau, in southern France. Numerous photographers, journalists, statesmen, officials and celebrities visited them at this time. Honours were bestowed on their return to the USA. Wilbur died of typhoid fever three years later.
