Description
Wearable computing. Woman wearing a prototype stress-detecting earring, a type of affective computer. The earring calculates the woman's blood pressure by measuring the amount of light reflected by the skin of her ear from a light source. If she is frightened or anxious, her blood pressure will increase. Affective computers provide feedback about the wearer's physical state or behaviour, such as indicating if their wearer's stress levels are too high. This earring was created at the Media Lab of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA.
