War Nurse cargo ship launch. Launch on 15 December 1917 of the cargo ship War Nurse from the Pusey and Jones shipyard on the Christina River at Wilmington, Delaware, USA. This ship had a capacity of 2585 tons. It was built for the US Shipping Board, and was later known as Piqua, Marconier, Ganda, and finally Helle. It was torpedoed in 1941 during World War II. This photograph is part of a collection from the Pusey and Jones Corporation on the history of shipping and shipyards.
