Preparations for the Trinity Project, the world's first detonation of a nuclear weapon, which was conducted on July 16th 1945 on the Alamogordo bombing range in the Jornada del Muerto, New Mexico. Here, vital components are loaded at the assembly site, at the old Mcdonald ranch, for delivery to the Trinity test site. Final assembly of the device took place under canvas at the foot of the test gantry. The test involved the Fat Man" atomic fission bomb of the type later dropped over Nagasaki, Japan."
