Description
MODEL RELEASED. Anal polyp operation. Surgeon operating on the anal polyps of a female patient. Polyps are benign abnormal growths (tumours) which project, usually on a stalk, from the lining of any mucous membrane. Some types of polyps may become cancerous, and so they are removed whether or not they are causing symptoms. The surgeon is using scissor forceps to manipulate the tissue on which the polyps are growing. There is a piece of surgical gauze (white) to absorb the blood at the operation site.
