Description
Sunset. View of the solar disc approaching the horizon. The solar radiation at sunset and sunrise must pass through an increasing mass of air which causes the Sun to dim and become reddened. The reddening is due to the presence of particulate matter in the atmosphere such as dust and aerosols. These particles scatter blue light more strongly than red light making the Sun red and the rest of the sky blue.
