Description
Upper Amazon rain-frog (Pristimantis altamazonicus). Members of this genus lay terrestrial eggs in damp places, such as under leaf litter, which hatch directly into froglets. They are independent of standing water, a successful adaptation which has led Pristimantis to be the largest vertebrate genus. Photographed at Jatun Sacha Reserve, Ecuador.
