Description
Electronic display of a typical three jet" event (also sometimes known as a Mercedes Benz event because of similarity to Mercedes Benz symbol) in the High Resolution Spectrometer (HRS) detector at the PEP electron/positron collider at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC), California. The display shows a representation of the cylindrical detector seen end-on. An electron & positron have collided at the centre of the display, mutually annihilating into pure energy which rematerialises as a quark, an antiquark and a gluon. These part- icles live too briefly to be visible, but their presence can be deduced from the three jets of other particles into which they immediately decay. (Run 2436, Event 16362) (June '84)"
