Description
Three-jet event. Computer display showing the result of an electron/positron collision inside the DELPHI detector at CERN, the European particle physics laboratory. The collision occurred at the centre of the frame, and produced enormous energy. This energy condensed to form two quarks and a gluon, which instantly decayed into jets of other particles. The narrow jets toward upper right and lower left are typical of a quark/antiquark pair, whilst the broader fan-shaped jet toward centre left indicates the decay of a gluon.
