The Great Pyramid. Historical engraving of a section through the Great Pyramid at Giza, Egypt. The engraving shows: 1, kings burial chamber; 2, queen's chamber, 3, unfinished chamber; 4, entrance; 5, grand gallery; 6, 8, 9 & 12 shafts; 7, original outline before theft of the stones. The Great Pyramid was built around 2800 BC as a monument to King Cheops. It has a vertical height of 146 metres and consists of around 2.3 million stone blocks. Giza's pyramids are the only one of the seven wonders of the ancient world still intact.
