Description
Cased set of ivory-handled surgical instruments. The set originates in England around 1850. Surgery in this era was high-risk with low patient survival rates. However it went through considerable advances during the second half of the nineteenth century with the advent of antiseptics and anaesthesia. This set of instruments includes Assalini artery forceps, scalpels and a small bone saw.
