Artist's Description

Stradivari violin. This violin, dating from 1715, was made by famed Italian luthier and violin-maker Antonio Stradivari (1644-1737). It dates from his 'golden age' (1700 to 1720) of peak quality of production. It is displayed in the Room of the Violins in the Town Hall of Cremona, Italy, from where it is lent to be played by famous soloists. Cremona has been famed for centuries for its production of high-quality string instruments.
