Description
Stirling castle. Cows grazing beside a corn field. Stirling castle's position on top of steep crags made it easy to defend. Most of the castle dates back to between 1496 and 1583 and was occupied by many Scottish Kings and Queen Mary of Guise. The castle's defences were built between 1711 and 1714 based on work by Mary of Guise. Kings James IV and James V built other parts of the castle between 1503 and 1594. Photographed in August, in Stirlingshire, Scotland, UK.
