Description
Southern rockhopper penguin (Eudyptes chrysocome) calling. This penguin's loud call, known as an ecstatic vocalisation, is used to announce its presence, for attracting a mate and to warn others off its territory. The southern rockhopper penguin inhabits sub-Antarctic islands. It feeds on fish, cephalopods (such as squid), crustaceans and krill, and can reach a length of up to 55 centimetres. Photographed on Pebble Island, the Falkland Islands.
