Description
Saturn's moon Pan. Cassini image of the Encke Gap (black) in the rings of Saturn (brown), with Pan, a small moon of Saturn, at centre (small brown dot). Pan is only 26 kilometres across. The Encke Gap is 133,580 kilometres from Saturn, and is maintained by the presence of Pan, which orbits within the Gap. This is a natural-colour image, created using red green and blue spectral filters. Image data obtained with Cassini's narrow-angle camera on 16 December 2006, at a distance from Pan of 779,000 kilometres.
