Saturn's moon Enceladus, Cassini image. Enceladus, the sixth-largest moon of Saturn, is 500 kilometres in diameter. It is a frozen world with a surface consisting mostly of water ice. This image combines ultraviolet (blue), green light (green) and near-infrared (red) filters. Cracks in the ice (blue-green) have been highlighted by the filters. This is the side of Enceladus that always faces away from Saturn. The smoother area of ridges at centre left is Diyar Planitia, and is a younger, more active region than the cratered area at right. This image is a mosaic of 25 separate images obtained by the Cassini spacecraft on 9 March 2005.
