Description
Saturn V instrument unit. Erection and mating of the S-IV-B stage of the Saturn Apollo 501 launch vehicle in the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) at the Kennedy Space Center, Florida, USA. This unit contains the guidance system for the Saturn V rocket. The Apollo 11 mission was launched from pad 39a at the Kennedy Space Centre, Florida, USA, on 16 July 1969. It was the first crewed mission to land on the Moon. Crew members were Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins and Edwin 'Buzz' Aldrin. Armstrong and Aldrin landed on the Moon's surface on 20 July, while Collins remained in lunar orbit in the command module. They returned to Earth and landed in the Pacific Ocean on 24 July.
