Sao Paulo. Satellite image of the city of Sao Paulo, Brazil. North is at top. Urban areas are grey, vegetation is green and water is blue. To the north of the city are the Cantareira mountains. The Tiete River flows horizontally through the city just above centre. A branch also leads to the large Billings Reservoir (lower centre). Several smaller reservoirs are also seen. Sao Paulo is the largest city in South America, and the third largest in the world. In 2001, it has over 20 million inhabitants.
