Description
Robley Dunglison Evans (1907-1995), US medical physicist. Evans was awarded his doctorate from the California Institute of Technology in 1932. He was a pioneer and founder of nuclear medicine, spending most of his career at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, retiring in 1972. His areas of research included radium poisoning, and the use of radioactive isotopes to study diseases. His books include 'You and Your Students' (1950) and 'The Atomic Nucleus' (1955). His awards include the William D. Coolidge Award (1984) and the Enrico Fermi Award (1990). The Robley D. Evans Commemorative Medal was established in his honour.
