Description
Pyrotherium, illustration. This extinct prehistoric mammal was an ungulate (hoofed animal). It lived from 28 to 23 million years ago, during the Oligocene. It resembled an elephant, and was about 3 metres long and 1.5 metres at the shoulder. Its fossils are found in Patagonia in South America.
