A preserved bat in a jar that once contained alchohol, but has long since dried out. Curation of old collections requires constant curation and care if specimens are not to be lost. Such loss though decay has been the fate of many important historical specimens in museums (such as the last Dodo specimen in Oxford's Ashmolean).
