Portrait of Heinz London (1907-1970), German- British physicist. Heinz London and his brother, Fritz, were the sons of a professor of mathematics at Bonn. The two brothers became famous for their papers published on superconductivity theory. Heinz and Fritz worked together on this research. They fled from Germany in 1933, moving to Oxford. Their joint work culminated in their paper proposing the London equations of superconductivity. The pair split up soon afterwards, Fritz moving to the USA whilst Heinz stayed at Oxford.
