Description
Philip Levine (1900-1987), Russian-US haematologist. Levine obtained his medical degree from Cornell University Medical School. He then specialised in clinical research and blood disorders. In 1939, he published findings in a case of haemolytic disease of the newborn (HDN) that helped advance research into Rhesus blood types and the prevention of Rh disease. Levine was jointly awarded an Albert Lasker Award in 1946 for this work. He was elected a Fellow of the American College of Physicians in 1944, and elected to the National Academy of Sciences in 1966. Photographed in 1944.
