Pharmaceutical factory. 19th-century photochrom (photographic lithograph) of the Burroughs, Wellcome and Company's pharmaceutical factory at Dartford, UK, in the 1890s. This site was acquired by Burroughs, Wellcome and Company in 1889. This company was one of the forerunners of GlaxoSmithKline, one of the world's largest pharmaceutical companies. The text on the image names one of the key products of the time: Kepler solution of cod liver oil in extract of malt. This was a dietary supplement intended to aid the digestion. This photochrom is from the Detroit Publishing Company.
