Description
Grain fungus. Petri dish culture containing colonies of various fungi obtained from cereal grain. Fungi like these can lead to spoilage of the grain. Fungi are simple life-forms which obtain food by direct absorption of nutrients, which in this case are provided by a culture medium. The furry appearance of the colonies is because the fungi are made up of fine hair-like hyphae and spore-producing structures.
