Artist's Description
Brain bank. Pathologist handling frozen brain slices in a freezer at a brain bank. Brains are frozen for storage while they are waiting for analysis. This is done in the cases of people who have died from brain disorders such as Alzheimer's disease or a brain tumour. By comparing the diseased brains with healthy specimens, information about the disorders can be gained. This may help in the hunt for a cure. Diseases of the brain are poorly understood, and almost invariably fatal.
