Description
Paranthropus robustus cranium (SK46). Frontal view of a cast of a fossil of part of the cranium of an adult Paranthropus robustus hominid. This specimen was probably female. The cranium was crushed, with only half of the braincase present, and a portion of the face, palate and maxilla. This fossil, dating from 1.5 million to 1.8 million years ago, was discovered at Swartkrans, South Africa by Robert Broom and J. T. Robinson in around 1949.
