Description
Ostrich chick. The ostrich (Struthio camelus) lays around 20 eggs, which take around 40 days to hatch. Each chick is mobile as soon as it hatches, and joins the adults in feeding mainly on plants. The ostrich is found in arid areas of central and southern Africa. Photographed at De Hoop Nature Reserve, South Africa.
