Description
Northwest Baghdad, Iraq. Satellite image of Baghdad, the capital city of Iraq and the Baghdad Province. The city was founded on the west bank of the Tigris River (not seen) at some point between 762 and 767 BC by Caliph al-Mansur. The more expensive part of the city is in the western side (seen here) with low-income housing being located in the east. Image taken on 8 February 2003 by Space Imaging's Ikonos satellite.
