New Zealand, satellite image. North is at top. Water is dark blue and clouds and snow and ice are white. The land cover ranges from light to dark green, depending on the type of vegetation. Some stretches of coastal waters appear a different colour due to river silt and chlorophyll blooms. This image was obtained in 2008 by the MODIS instrument on NASA's Terra satellite.
