Description
Neutrino detector, illustration. Neutrinos are elementary particles that are very difficult to detect and study. Neutrino detection observatories are buried deep underground to shield them from other particles. Here, a chamber is filled with a detector fluid that can interact with neutrinos. The interaction gives off Cherenkov radiation, and this is detected by detector tubes lining the chamber that fire (red dots) to show the path of the neutrino.
