Description
MODEL RELEASED. Neonatal jaundice treatment. Baby in an incubator receiving phototherapy to treat neonatal jaundice. The orange perspex hood protects the baby's eyes from the light. Jaundice is a condition in which the skin and eyes are discoloured due to the deposition of excess bilirubin (pigment) in skin tissues. The blue light breaks down the pigment, allowing it to be excreted in faeces and urine.
