It occurs throughout the world. It grows in many types of climate, including the Arctic, boreal areas, temperate areas, and deserts. It is has been used as a model organism for the study of desiccation tolerance and mechanisms of cellular repair. Magnification: x1,185 when shortest axis printed at 25 millimetres.
