Description
Pollution monitoring. Two laboratory assistants on the roof of a chemical production facility monitor emissions from a chimney which is the exhaust for an air pipe. Samples are taken by extracting gas through access points in the side of the chimney and passing it through the analysis equipment. Pollutants can be measured electronically at the measurement site. They can also be chemically extracted by bubbling the gas through various solutions and then analysing them in a laboratory. Photographed in Germany.
