Description
King of the terrible lizards. A life-size model of the dinosaur Tyrannosaurus rex. The tyrannosaurids were bipedal carnivores. T.rex lived in the late Maastrichtian Age (65-75 million years ago). Skulls of T.rex suggest a well developed sense of smell and overlapping forward vision (though not necessarily stereoscopic). There is also evidence to suggest that they adopted a 'hit and run' hunting strategy: they made one quick strike on the prey, inflicting a bad wound, then waited for it to succumb to shock or blood loss. This model was photographed at the side of Highway 10 near Palm Springs, California.
