Meteor procession of 20 July 1860. Weekly newspaper page with a report and illustrations of meteors that formed part of the meteor procession of 20 July 1860, seen across the north-eastern USA. A meteor procession is a series of meteors that occurs when a larger, Earth-grazing meteor, breaks apart to form fragments that pass across the sky. The observers and locations in the state of New York, USA, are named below each artwork. The locations are: Saratoga Springs (centre left), Brooklyn (centre right), and Bedford, Long Island (bottom). This page is from the 4 August 1860 edition of 'Harper's Weekly', published in New York, USA.
