Engraving entitled Men of Science Living in 1807-8". This fictional meeting contains many of the greatest names in science. Seated are (l-r) William Herschel, Neville Maskelyne and Edward Jenner, Henry Cavendish, John Dalton, Marc Brunel, Matthew Boulton and James Watt, then toward the right are Samuel Crompton, Charles Tennant, Edmund Cartwright, Francis Ronalds and Lord Stanhope. The figure at far right with his back turned to the artist is Joseph Bramah. Below the image are reproductions of the signatures of the sitters. This engraving was made in 1862, from an original painting by Sir John Gilbert, Frederick Skill and Elizabeth and William Walker. The original hangs at the National Portrait Gallery, London."
