Matricaria plant. Pressed specimen of a Matricaria chusan specimen from volume 330 of the Sloane Herbarium. This herbarium, by the English physician Hans Sloane (1660-1753), is a huge collection of pressed plants filling many volumes. This specimen, from page 57, has a label by English botanist James Petiver (1658-1718), whose collection was purchased by Sloane. Sloane's collections of plants and other objects were bequeathed to the nation, and they formed the basis of the British Museum. The plant collections are housed at the Natural History Museum, London, UK.
