Description
Mars Opportunity rover (grey, centre right) on the rim of Victoria crater, Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) image. This is one of two identical rovers sent to Mars in the summer of 2003. Opportunity landed successfully on 24th January 2004. Its mission is to analyse soil and rocks and search for water. The rover also carries a panoramic camera to take images of interesting Martian features. Image taken by the high resolution imaging science experiment (HiRISE) camera on 3rd October 2006.
