Description
Male house sparrow (Passer domesticus) perched on a wooden post. Originally from Eurasia, the Middle East and North Africa, it has been introduced to North and South America, as well as to southern Africa and Australia. While it is a seed eater, it also eats worms, fruit and kitchen scraps, enabling it to prosper in many urban environments. Photographed in Kent, UK, in winter.
