Artist's Description

Lunardi's balloon flight. Labelled diagram of the balloon used by the Italian balloonist Vincent Lunardi (1759-1806) to ascend from the Moorfields Artillery Grounds, London, on 15 September 1784. This was Lunardi's first ascent, and the first balloon ascent in England. He experimented with oars for steering.
